Best rooftops in Europe
The best rooftops in Europe for cocktails, sunsets, and unforgettable views
This year my travels took me to several European Rooftops, from Chapter Roma’s buzzy terrace to the laid-back rooftop pool at the Kimpton Vividora. They reminded me why I love a rooftop moment: part view, part atmosphere, part pure indulgence.
They’ve always been one of my favorite ways to experience a city. It’s not just about the cocktails (though a well-made spritz never hurts). From above, everything shifts: the rooftops glow, landmarks line the horizon, and the bustle below feels far away. A rooftop perch can turn an ordinary evening into one of those small, unforgettable travel moments.
Here are a few of my favorite spots, places I’d happily send you to for a pre-dinner drink, a nightcap, or simply a different perspective on the city.
Hey Guey at the Chapter Roma, Italy
Chapter Roma is already one of the city’s coolest boutique hotels, and its rooftop bar, Hey Güey, adds the perfect laid-back vibe. Think colorful cocktails, greenery, and a stylish crowd, more Mexico City than Rome, in the best way. I love that it feels both unexpected and exactly right for Rome: buzzy but not pretentious, with views that make it the perfect spot to start (or end) an evening. Booking through me will get you a complimentary Room Upgrade Upon Availability, a welcome drink and a 50euro food credit
Terraza de vivi at Kimpton Vividora, Spain
I visited Terraza de Vivi with my son this summer, and it was one of those perfect Barcelona moments: relaxed, sun-warmed, with city views all around. The rooftop has a small pool just for hotel guests, making it as much a retreat as a place for cocktails. When I book you you will receive perks such as the $100 USD hotel credit, breakfast,a Complimentary room upgrade (subject to availability)
The Rooftop at The Standard, London
High above King’s Cross on the 11th floor, this terrace has a playful New York-meets-London vibe: pink cushions, AstroTurf, bubbles on tap, and pizza by the slice. Take the iconic red pill-shaped elevator up, then settle in for skyline views. If the weather turns, one floor down you’ll find Decimo with Spanish-Mexican plates and mezcal cocktails.
When I book you at The Standard through Hyatt Privé, you’ll enjoy perks like hotel credit, daily breakfast, and upgrade/late checkout whenever available.
The Rooftop Bar at Hôtel Dame des Arts, Paris
On the Left Bank, this sleek terrace delivers Paris in full 360°, with the Eiffel Tower right there in front of you. Order Champagne or a spritz, pair it with oysters or antipasti, and watch the city glow as the lights come on. Chic, intimate, and very Parisian.
Booking through my Preferred Platinum partnership means extras like $100 credit, breakfast, upgrades and more.
Saint Sky Bar, Santorini
Set above the cliffs in Imerovigli, Saint Sky Bar has all the caldera drama without the crush of Oia’s crowds. Whitewashed lines, low lounge seating, and the Aegean stretching out in front of you, plus a sunset that lives up to the hype.
The Rooftop at El Llorenç Parc de la Mar, Palma
Above Palma’s Old Town in Mallorca, this rooftop lines up the cathedral and bay in one uninterrupted sweep. Tiered infinity pools, cushioned loungers, and shaded daybeds make it as much a daytime retreat as a cocktail spot. The menu is Mediterranean, with local seafood, island olive oil, and a strong Balearic wine list alongside classic drinks. From this height you can trace the curve of the harbor, spot yachts sailing in at dusk, and watch the cathedral glow gold as night falls. The atmosphere shifts from relaxed to lively without ever losing its polished, island pace.
La Terrazza at Hotel Continentale, Florence
Perched above the Arno, La Terrazza is one of the city’s most romantic spots, with the Ponte Vecchio glowing at dusk and the domes and hills beyond. It’s the kind of place where a simple Negroni feels like the height of luxury.
Through my Reserve partnership with Continentale, you’ll receive $100 dining credit, breakfast, and upgrade/late checkout whenever possible
La Muña at La Réserve Eden au Lac, Zurich
Zurich’s lakefront rooftop feels like a hidden garden in the sky. Sushi, ceviche, inventive cocktails, and views of sailboats drifting past the Alps it’s a dreamy place to linger over lunch or toast the sunset.
When I book you at La Réserve through my Fora perks, you’ll receive $100–$300 credit, breakfast, and an upgrade when available.
SEEN Sky Bar at Tivoli Avenida Liberdade, Lisbon
Lisbon is famous for its miradouros, but SEEN takes the prize. Perched above the city’s grandest boulevard, it delivers castle-to-river views, Champagne flutes, signature cocktails, and a DJ to set the mood. It’s Lisbon at its most glamorous.
Bookable with my Fora perks: $100 credit, breakfast, upgrades, and (in suites) airport transfers plus an extra credit.
The Roof at The Reykjavik EDITION, Reykjavik
Glacier-to-sea views meet sleek Nordic style. By day: crisp air and endless horizons. By night: candlelight, cocktails, and, if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights. Reykjavik may be new to the rooftops glows. Through my Marriott STARS partnership, you’ll enjoy $100 hotel credit, daily breakfast, welcome amenity, and upgrade/late checkout when available.
Sushi Club at Mandarin Oriental, Munich
Crowning one of Munich’s most elegant hotels, Sushi Club pairs pristine sashimi and inventive cocktails with city‑and‑Alps views. In summer, the rooftop pool adds a resort‑style touch, best enjoyed with Champagne as the rooftops glow.
Through my Mandarin Oriental Fan Club partnership, you’ll receive $100 credit, breakfast, an amenity, and upgrade/late checkout whenever possible.
